After the race, the winning school is determined based on the number of 5K runners. The special 5K rate of $20 for 19 & under will continue for all students in 2026 as will as this school challenge.

A walk is returning for the 2026 Fox Trot. For this first year, it will be 2k and not timed, but a free T-shirt, post-race beverages, and a bib to signify your participation will be included.
The cost is $20 per walker OR $15 each for four or more team. As with any distance, you will have an opportunity to further contribute to one of the 10 non-profits of your choice, see the Beneficiaries page.

This is the Elgin Valley Fox Trot's way of encouraging new young runners. Since the event is after the school year, any athletes may register.
Also, there is a competitive "traveling" trophy named "The Fox" for the area high school with the highest number of competitors!

Start/Finish Area Just north of the Elgin Gail Borden Library at Grove and Kimball Street. The race route heads through Elgin’s north end neighborhoods toward Dundee and returns downhill on Grove. Please, no four-legged friends on the race course!
Convenient, free parking is available in the northeast section of the Borden Library at 270 North Grove Avenue as well as in the public municipal Parking Lots and decks within short walking

Packets for pre-registered runners will be available for pickup on Friday, May 29 from 4 to 8 PM and on Saturday, May 30 from Noon – 5 PM, both within the Art Room of the Centre of Elgin, 100 Symphony Way in downtown Elgin (enter through the Heritage Ballroom entrance) and on Race Day at the start/finish area. The Elgin Lions Club will be offering free eye screenings just outside the Ballroom entrance.

Zona de salida/meta: Justo al norte de la Biblioteca Gail Borden de Elgin, en Grove y Kimball Street. La ruta de la carrera atraviesa los barrios del norte de Elgin hacia Dundee y regresa cuesta abajo por Grove. ¡Por favor, no se permiten mascotas en el circuito! Hay disponible un cómodo estacionamiento gratuito en la sección noreste de la Biblioteca Borden, en el 270 de North Grove Avenue, así como en los estacionamientos y garajes públicos municipales situados a poca distancia a pie.

Los paquetes para los corredores preinscritos estarán disponibles para ser recogidos el viernes 29 de mayo de 4 a 8 p.m. y el sábado 30 de mayo de mediodía a 5 p.m., ambos en la Sala de Arte del Centro de Elgin, 100 Symphony Way en el centro de Elgin (ingrese por la entrada Heritage Ballroom) y el día de la carrera en el área de salida/llegada. El Elgin Lions Club ofrecerá exámenes de la vista gratuitos justo a la entrada del salón de baile.
