After the race, the winning school is determined based on the number of 5K runners. The special 5K rate of $20 for 19 & under will continue for all students in 2026.

A walk is returning for the 2026 Fox Trot. For this first year, it will be 2k and not timed, but a free T-shirt, post-race beverages, and a bib to signify your participation will be included.
The cost is $20 per walker OR $60 for a family of four. As with any distance, you will have an opportunity to further contribute to one of the 10 non-profits of your choice, see the Beneficiaries page.
Any youths age 19 and under can register for ONLY $20!
This is the Elgin Valley Fox Trot's way of encouraging new young runners. Since the event is after the school year, any athletes may register.
Also, there is a competitive "traveling" trophy named "The Fox" for the area high school with the highest number of competitors!
Start/Finish Area Just north of the Elgin Gail Borden Library at Grove and Kimball Street. The race route heads through Elgin’s north end neighborhoods toward Dundee and returns downhill on Grove. Please, no four-legged friends on the race course!
Packets for pre-registered runners will be available for pickup on Friday, May 29 from 4 to 8 PM and on Saturday, May 30 from Noon – 5 PM, both within the Art Room of the Centre of Elgin, 100 Symphony Way in downtown Elgin (enter through the Heritage Ballroom entrance) and on Race Day at the start/finish area.
Race timing should remain the same.
Runner tracking is available for the 10-mile race. After the race, scan the QR Code on your bib for individual results.
There will be photographers at various points along the course taking. These FREE images will be located within the Results page.
Overall event awards and 5-year age group awards for the 10-Mile and 5K races will be presented at the post race party immediately after the race. 19 and under awards follow the USATF age breakdowns.
A free t-shirt emblazoned with the race logo above will be provided in men’s and women’s sizes, XS, S, M, L, XL & 2X. Limited supplies, register ASAP!
Fresh fruit, bagels, and water will be available following the race. Under age 21 runners will enjoy a free treat!
Food Trucks to be announced.
Gear check will be available at the Packet Pickup area, there is a detachable tag at the bottom of the race bib.
Enjoy a free cold beer for each of age runner and more for purchase, under-21 will receive a special treat, cheer on the award winners, and celebrate your accomplishment at the post race party which will be held at the start/finish area immediately following the race.
Convenient, free parking is available in the northeast section of the Borden Library at 270 North Grove Avenue as well as in the public municipal Parking Lots and decks within short walking distance to the start / finish area.
