the first 200 registrants of the 2027 10-mile race will receive a free book at packet pick-up, june 4 and 5
Running 10: A Commemorative 50-Year History chronicles the history of the Elgin Valley Fox Trot, from its founding in 1978 through its approaching 50th anniversary. Drawing on newspaper accounts, race records, numerous photographs, and personal interviews, Edward Bates explores the event’s origins, changing courses, notable champions, Olympians, women runners, local legends, and youth running programs. The book also recounts how the Kenyon Farm Runners revived the race after the City of Elgin ended its management and guided it through the COVID-19 pandemic into a new period of growth. More than a record of winners and times, the book portrays the Fox Trot as a cherished community tradition sustained by runners, volunteers, sponsors, and local nonprofit organizations.

Running 10: A Commemorative 50-Year History narra la historia del Elgin Valley Fox Trot, desde su fundación en 1978 hasta la proximidad de su 50.º aniversario. the 2k fun walk repeats in 2027
ALL COURSES START & END JUST NORTH OF THE BORDEN LIBRARY
The 2K Nature Walk is an out and back on the beautiful Fox River Trail. This section of the trail is mostly shaded.
A walk is returning for the 2026 Fox Trot. For this first year, it will be 2k and not timed, but a free T-shirt, post-race beverages, and a bib to signify your participation will be included.
The cost is $20 per walker OR $15 each for four or more team. As with any distance, you will have an opportunity to further contribute to one of the 10 non-profits of your choice, see the Beneficiaries page.
